It went from 2,000 vehicles per day to zero on September 6, but that all changes Friday.

The Johnson County Second Road Department has announced, via a press release, most of the work on the Highway 965 bridge is complete and it is ready to open to traffic. That will happen in time for early morning traffic to use the bridge on Friday.

Cracks were found on the deck of the bridge earlier this year and a weight limit was put in place before it was totally closed for repairs just after Labor Day. The project, originally scheduled to be completed around Thanksgiving, is obviously ahead of schedule.

There will still be some finishing work going on in the next couple weeks. There may be some daytime-only, single lane closures with flaggers present, but that will be it.

Yes, the 965 bridge is ready for you again!
