Introducing New KRNA Air Talent Tom E. Gunn

Greetings and salutations!

My name is Tom E. Gunn and I am super excited to be a part of the KRNA family. I just moved to Iowa about a month ago, and already I am loving the area, mainly because it's summer and I haven't wanted to die.

You see, I am from the far off city of Shreveport, Louisiana. It's in the northwest corner of the state, about a five hour drive from New Orleans. Technically we are not in Cajun country, but we like to pretend we are for the most part, mainly to distance ourselves from the fact that we are so close to Texas and Arkansas. But even being so far from the Crescent City, we still have some delicious Louisiana cuisine, a hefty party attitude, and all around "Joie de vivre" (Joy of life).

We also have hot, humid, and oppressive summers that suck the life out of you as soon as you venture out of the safety of your air-conditioning, so I'm loving this Iowa weather right now. Now...come January when I ask repeatedly how you live in this frozen wasteland, you'll get a chance to laugh at me. We don't get "winter" in Louisiana...so this will be my first. Wish my family and me luck as we try to not freeze to death.

Also...It's strange for me to leave LSU Tiger-land where everything is swathed in purple and gold, however I'm used to black and gold because of the Saints, so transitioning to Hawkeyes country hasn't been that much of a culture shock...yet. I guess I'll need to wait until football season to see what it's really like.

I've been in radio off and on for a little over 20 years. I've also worked in retail management, and I was an air traffic controller for the United States Air Force for six years.

I can't tell you how happy I am to be welcomed with such open arms by the folks here at KRNA and all the awesome listeners. You guys ROCK!!

Tune into my show Monday thru Friday from 2 p.m.-7 p.m. with the afternoon workforce and Saturday mornings from 6am-11am! I LOVE classic rock and I can't wait to share my love of the format with all of you in the corridor!
