UPDATE: Woman Arrested in Cedar Rapids Stabbing Death
[UPDATE March 5 4 pm] The victim of a Wednesday stabbing in Cedar Rapids has been identified as Tremaine V. Williams. He was 35.
[UPDATE March 4 2:30 pm] The Cedar Rapids Police Department has announced they've arrested 36-year-old Jacqueline M. Holmes after a morning stabbing in Cedar Rapids. Holmes allegedly stabbed a 35-year-old man inside a home in the 700 block of 8th Ave. S.W. this morning.
Holmes has been charged with first-degree murder in the case. There had been a warrant for her arrest on Revocation of Probation on the original charges of Child Endangerment, Operating While Intoxicated, and Operating Vehicle without Owner’s Consent and a Jones County warrant for Theft-5th Degree.
An investigation by the Cedar Rapids Police Department showed Holmes stabbed the unnamed man with a knife. He later died. Holmes is being held at the Linn County Jail. The two were reportedly in a relationship.
[ORIGINAL STORY] A 35-year-old man has died after an early morning stabbing in Cedar Rapids.
According to a media release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department, emergency crews and officers from the Cedar Rapids Police Department were dispatched to the report of a stabbing in the 700 block of 8th Ave. S.W. at 4:24 a.m. this morning. When they arrived, they found the man unresponsive with a stab wound to the upper torso.
Emergency officials began treatment on the man, who was then taken by ambulance to UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital. He was pronounced dead a short time later. An autopsy will be performed at the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner in Ankeny.
Cedar Rapids Police say this does not appear to be a random incident, and the investigation continues.
The name of the victim has not been released.
