Local Swim Team Takes On New Approach To Fundraising
I know what you're thinking, another fundraiser. But this one is easy and it's something we do everyday!
The Jefferson/Prairie Men's Swim Team has come up with an idea to help raise some money for their teams and they're hoping we can help them out.
It's a can/bottle drive that's going on right now. The teams have partnered with the Can Shed in Cedar Rapids. All you have to do is take your cans and bottles to the Can Shed location on Wiley Boulevard and sign the receipt payable to Jefferson Men's Swimming.
The boys are also hosting a bottle drive on Saturday, December 7th in the Jefferson High School parking lot from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Just pull up and the fellas will unload your car and do all of the work for you.
Last year, the teams raised enough money to get much needed new warm ups. This year, they're hoping to get new lane lines. They're a great group of kids and they practice very hard everyday. This is a way to get your good deed done, get rid of your cans and help some young men raise some cash for their sport!
A handful of downtown restaurants have also been generous to donate their cans to the cause. Special thanks to Pub 217, The Lost Cuban and Jimmy Z's for the support of youth swimming here in Eastern Iowa.
Let's do our best to help these boys out and clean out those cans in your garage!
