Davenport & Moline Fire Departments Holding Virtual ‘Fill The Boot’ Drives

Even the coronavirus can't slow down the awesome work of local Quad City fire departments. Every year, both the Davenport and Moline fire departments go from road to road collecting donations, but this year that fundraiser is moving online.

For the past 66 years,  the Davenport and Moline Fire Departments have teamed up with the MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) to raise money for research to find a cure for children and adults suffering from diseases like ALS and other debilitating diseases that take away normal functions from a person. Functions like walking, talking, running, hugging, eating, and many normal functions we take for granted.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year, firefighters from the Davenport and Moline Fire Departments cannot be on street corners, at stop lights and stop signs, or other places to raise money for MDA. Instead, both departments are asking you and many others to make your donations online.

This year, you can't physically fill the boot, but you can still make a difference in the lives of people who suffer from Muscular Dystrophy right here in the Quad Cities.

This year, the Davenport Fire Department have set a goal to raise $5,000 for MDA.

The Moline Fire Department is looking to raise $4,000 online. Last year the department raise $16,000.
