Deafinitely Dogs! in Cedar Rapids is asking everyone to join them for a fun charity event next weekend! The non-profit is hosting a "Critter Cruise" on the 4th of July.

If you've never heard of Deafinitely Dogs!, it's a wonderful organization that helps people living with disabilities right here in Eastern Iowa. The official website reads:

"Deafinitely Dogs! is a non-profit organization that enriches the lives of people with disabilities by placing highly trained dogs, trained specifically for their individual needs. We strive for increased independence for our clients and believe strongly in the dog/human bond."

Hosting fundraising events has been a little tricky these past few months, but Deafinitely Dogs! has found a safe way to hold one in the era of social distancing. The group is putting on a 'Critter Cruise' next Saturday, July 4th. They are asking you to load up your car with both people and pets and drive over to the parking lot of Dr. Fitzgerald & Associates at 3225 Williams Parkway SW. Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. and the cruise kicks off at 10 a.m. The parade of cars will drive up and down First Ave, ending at Bandana's BBQ at 3707 1st Ave SE. Then you'll be able to park and order some food that you can enjoy in your car.

Why did Deafinitely Dogs! decide to put on the cruise? The event page says:

"The goal of this event is to let people know that Deafinitely Dogs! is still here serving our community and provide a fun, safe social distancing gathering to celebrate the 4th of July - and of course with the option to have pets involved!"

The registration fee is $20 per car and includes a patriotic t-shirt and a removable sticker. You can pre-register and order extra t-shirts by clicking HERE.

Be sure to look for us at the cruise! Brain and I will be in the KHAK vehicle with both Tater and Rigby! What could possibly go wrong...
