There was a a big accident in Cedar Rapids that led to a major road to be closed for several hours on Monday morning.

According to KCRG, "A crash on Edgewood Road involving only one vehicle is expected to close traffic for several hours into Monday morning, Cedar Rapids police said."

The incident happened around 1:25 a.m. Monday morning near Amanda Ct and Edgewood Road NW. A vehicle went off the road and knocked down a telephone pole. The pole was in the way of traffic, and the road had to be shut down.

Police officers were on the scene shortly after the accident happened. Edgewood Road from F to O Avenue was closed for about 4 hours while the power company made repairs. The road is now open and traffic is moving at a normal pace.

There is no word on of the driver was injured, but we will continue to follow this story and provide updates as soon as more information is released.
