Is there anything better than eating delicious food for a good cause?!

Cedar Rapids animal rescue Dogs Forever is gearing up for the 3rd annual Chili Cook-Off, which serves as a huge fundraiser for the organization. This year's event is scheduled for Saturday, October 28th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Geonetric building near NewBo City Market.

For a suggested donation of $5, attendees will be able to sample 15 different homemade chilis and vote on their favorite. The People's Choice Award will be determined by those votes, and the winner will receive a $100 prize. There will also be a panel of judges to determine the overall winner, and that person will get $400. I am happy to announce that I will be one of this year's judges along with KCRG's Danielle Wagner and City Council member Ashley Vanorny!

In addition to sampling chili, the fundraiser will also include a silent auction and a bake sale. You will have to be present to bid on the silent auction items, but you don't have to present to win. All of the winners will be called at 1:45 p.m. and will have the opportunity to come back and pick up their prize before 2:30 p.m. Winners will also be able to schedule a pick at the shelter sometime before November 4th.
