Cedar Rapids Police tell KCRG they responded to a report of shots fired around 9:55 Wednesday morning, near the Hotel at Kirkwood Center, specifically in the 7700 block of Kirkwood Blvd. in Southwest Cedar Rapids. College Community Schools (Prairie) were placed on "lockout"---all exterior doors locked and students kept inside.

Steve Doser, Communications Director with College Community School District, tells Iowa's News Now on CBS2 that means no one is allowed to leave or enter the building. Parents have been notified and classes will remain normal inside the building.

Cedar Rapids Police have confirmed they have found shell casings and believe the shots fired incident occurred in the parking lot east of the hotel.

No injuries have yet to be reported as of 11 a.m. Wednesday. Preliminary information according to Iowa's News Now on CBS2 states that two vehicles were involved, and an alert was sent to Kirkwood students at around 10:30 a.m. The following message was also posted to Kirkwood Facebook page:
