Classic Cars Roar Into Downtown Cedar Rapids This Saturday
Pump the brakes! There's finally something fun to do this weekend in Cedar Rapids.
The Cavalcade of Cars is coming to the Alliant Energy Power House in Cedar Rapids this Saturday, April 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Admission is $10.
The exhibit of over 50 rides from five states includes custom hot rods, classic cars, muscle cars, off road rides, motorcycles, restored museum pieces, and even classic movie cars.
Along with automotive vendors, the Cavalcade of Cars presents stars from the car building world, like Justin Nichols of Velocity Channel/Motor Trend TV Wrench'd.
Car enthusiasts will appreciate the Pinstriping and Paint seminar led by Hetz, along with plenty of unique displays like the Baja Bandeeto, the wacky bubbletop car built by Spritz by Fritz.
One truly notable hometown hero at the Alliant Energy Power House this weekend is Cedar Rapids' Eddie Pettus from Eddie's Rod and Custom. Eddie Pettus is an award winning builder who has been featured on the Velocity channel for his exceptional high end custom car work.
For years, Eddie has sponsored and organized a free charity car show at the Tanager Place Summerfest fundraiser event. It's just one of the ways his shop gives back to our community.
Following the Cavalcade of Cars you can join in the fun of cruising the avenue, as the 1st Ave. Car Cruise returns (weather permitting, of course).
Cedar Rapids 1st. Ave. Car Cruise
The 1st Ave. Car Cruise has always been popular with car enthusiasts, but last year it returned with a fury as a way for everyone to escape the boredom of the lockdown. The streets were filled on Saturday nights with muscle cars and classic rides rolling from Lindale Mall to the SW corner of Cedar Rapids. The Cruise unofficially returns on Saturday, May 8 according to the group's Facebook page.
