A huge honor happened to one of Minnesota's own today.  A guy from St. Paul, Minnesota, who won the hearts of Minnesota Twins fans for 15 years, heard the news today that he was being elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York!  And the thrilling moment when Joe Mauer got the exciting call was caught on camera.

Minnesota Twin, Joe Mauer, Was just Elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame!

When he was just four years old, Joe Mauer was hitting the ball so hard in his T-Ball league that he was asked to leave.  His hit was just too much for the other players.  Today, he is in the National Baseball Hall of Fame alongside other Minnesota Twins greats:

First Ballot Hall of Famer Added to Joe Mauer's Accomplishments Today

The pride that Minnesota felt today, it was honestly contagious.  Once the Minnesota Twins shared the news, it seemed like our state got a little bit happier.  People were sharing memories and special moments that they had at games or photos with Joe himself.  It was an amazing site to watch on social media as we all went down memory lane for a few moments with one of our favorite Minnesota Twins players.

Congratulations, Joe!  Your major league debut happened on my birthday and I have been a fan since I first heard your name.  It was always a pleasure to watch you play!

Now...I need to make a few phone calls and see if my family has any room at their place in July.  They live in Cooperstown.  ;)
