You Can Rent a ‘Tank’ to Float Down the Cedar River This Summer
If you're looking for a new way to 'float' this summer, this looks like it could be a lot of fun!
Over at the Cedar River Campground in Tipton is a business called Cedar River Tank, Tube, and Canoe Rental. According to the Facebook page:
"Cedar River Tank, Tube, and Canoe will be offering relaxing floats and canoe trips on the beautiful Cedar River. Our awesome new location at the Cedar River Campground gives you private river access and the option to add on a campsite or day use pass for our many amenities."
I'm sure a lot of us have floated down a river on an inner tube or a canoe before, but what about a tank? Until today, I had no idea that was even an option! The tanks consist of a round bottom with a built-in bench and a small table with an umbrella. It's a great option for folks who enjoy the river, but don't want to actually sit in the water all day. Here are a few examples of the ones available:
Tanks can fit four people and cost $150 to rent. You can add a small child to the tank for an additional $15. The float time is around four hours.
If you'd rather go the more traditional route, canoes hold two people and cost $50 (an additional $15 for a small child), and tubes cost $30. If you'd like to add on a cooler tube, that'll cost you $10.
To rent the tanks, canoes, or tubes, you can send your preferred date and number of people over to Cedar River Tank, Tube, and Canoe Rental at 319-471-0990 or via email at Cedarrivercampground@outlook.com. Check out the Facebook page for more information HERE.
