The most delicious part of St. Ludmila's annual Kolach Festival will return this year!

Pretty much every popular Eastern Iowa event was cancelled last summer because of the pandemic, and that includes the ever-popular Kolach Festival here in Cedar Rapids. The annual event usually includes a carnival, live music, a 5k, a silent auction, and a bags tournament, but unfortunately, none of those things will be back in 2021. The good news is that there are still three aspects of the festival that WILL happen this summer! There's the 4-Person Best Shot Golf Tournament on June 6th, some sort of raffle, and, most importantly, the kolaches.

St. Ludmila announced this month that there are four different kolach bakes scheduled for this year: June 12th, July 17th, September 18th, and November 13th. It will still be a drive-up event, but the main difference is that you will have to pre-order the kolaches. According to the Facebook page, the available flavors include apple, apricot, cherry, poppyseed, and strawberry, and they will cost $14 per dozen or $7 per half-dozen. The deadline for the ordering will be the Tuesday prior to each bake.

To pre-order your kolaches, just email kolachbaking@outlook.com or call 319-350-4145. The drive-up hours for pick-up will be between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. at the church's location (211 21st Avenue SW in Cedar Rapids). If you'd like to volunteer at any of the Kolach Bakes, you can sign up for that online, as well! Get more information on this year's Kolach Festival Bakes HERE.

If you simply can't wait to get some kolaches, you can always head to Sykora Bakery in the Czech Village or My Mom's Bakery in Ely!
