“Virtual” Irish Fest this weekend in Waterloo
According to KWWL, "While you may not be able to experience the full festivities of Irish Fest in Downtown Waterloo this year, a virtual version of the event will be happening this weekend."
Organizers of the annual event were hoping to continue the tradition of Irish Fest in Waterloo, but the coronavirus put a hold on that. The event was supposed to happen this weekend in downtown Waterloo.
Irish Fest organizers decided to cancel the "live" version of the festival but they are planning to do the next best thing..... A virtual celebration of the event.
To be a part of the virtual Irish Fest, visit iowairishfest.com. Here is a list of what you can expect if you decide to tune-in this weekend.
- On Friday, you get a replay of the bands that played back in 2019
- Saturday will feature some cool messages and produced videos from the bands that would have played this year, in 2020.
- To wrap it all up, on Sunday the Irish Fest mass will be the feature of the broadcast.
Again, all you have to do is click on this link starting on Friday, July 31 to be a part of the virtual Irish Fest for 2020.
Here at the radio station, we've been working with the festival organizers for the last couple of years. They've got a great group of volunteers and I'm sure they're all super bummed there won't be a live version of the event this year.
I'm sure next year will be twice as big. To read the full story from KWWL, visit this link.
