Iowa has the lowest school dropout rate in the United States. That was one of the findings of a survey from WalletHub looking into the "States with the Best and Worst School Systems in The Country".

We didn't too bad in the overall survey, either, coming in at #23 of the 50 states for "Best School System". WalletHub said they looked into "33 relevant metrics" to determine their findings, further breaking it down to two "dimensions" of quality and safety.

In the "Quality" category, Iowa ranked 25th and in "Safety", we were 16th. Maybe that's why it's so important to parents and teachers in our state right now that we get the "Return To Learn" plan right this Fall amidst the pandemic.

Other Midwest states making the rankings ahead of us were Minnesota (#7), Wisconsin (#8), Nebraska (#11), Illinois (#13), North Dakota (#14), and Indiana (#15). South Dakota (25), Kansas (29), Michigan (33), and Missouri (36) all ranked somewhere below us.

Back to that lowest dropout ranking. We didn't make the Top 5 Best (or Worst) of any other individual category, but this is certainly one to hang our hats on. Joining us in the Top 5 there were New Jersey, Kentucky, West Virginia, and tying at #5 were Alabama and Tennessee.
