If there was ever a holiday for me to celebrate, this one is it. June 4th is also known as National Cheese Day, and since cheese is my favorite food group, I had to spread the news! Nobody really knows how or when National Cheese Day was started but does it even matter?

In honor of National Cheese Day, National Today did a survey to find out what America's favorite cheeses are. The answers aren't too surprising:

  1. Cheddar
  2. Mozzarella
  3. American
  4. Pepper Jack
  5. Provolone

One of America's favorite cheeses also made the list of our least favorite cheeses!

  1. Blue
  2. Limburger
  3. Goat
  4. American (ironic)
  5. Swiss

If I absolutely had to choose, I would say that pepper jack is my favorite type of cheese, but I try not to discriminate. The only cheese I've ever tried and didn't like was blue cheese. Just recently I became obsessed with goat cheese. I think people hear the word "goat" and immediately get grossed out, but it tastes just like cream cheese, which is DELICIOUS! If you've never tried it, you need to.

The best way I can think to celebrate National Cheese Days is by sharing my love of cheese with the world. Here are some amazingly cheesy foods from restaurants here in Eastern Iowa that I've had the pleasure of enjoying recently:

Do you have any photos of cheesy dishes that you've eaten recently? Feel free to share a photo with us in the comments!
