Ah, the joy of the holiday season. Gathering with friends and family. Eating a fantastic dinner. Exchanging gifts around the Christmas tree. And then, a family or group picture to remember the occasion. What could possibly go wrong? Many family photos taken around the holidays turn out great. You might even use one on your Christmas card you mail to friends. Others, however, are fun for a different reason.

Every family has them. Funny or awkward photos taken during the holidays. My family is no different. Trying to get three kids to behave, no matter how young or old they are, is always a challenge! The first photo that I'll share is one of Holly and I's favorites. We only had Chase and Carly during this Christmas photo. We made the trip to see our favorite mall Santa in Cedar Rapids. Chase was ready to tell Santa his list. Carly, needless to say, was not.

It was as if Santa told her she was getting no Taylor Swift gifts for Christmas! It just goes to show you that NOTHING will stop Santa from having a great time meeting all the good boys and girls...even the ones screaming.

The last awkward holiday photo I'll share is of all three of our kids at a work Christmas party for Holly's employer many years ago. The kids got to play games, enjoy snacks, and of course meet Santa. Apparently, there was also a face-painting artist on hand. When Chase was asked what he would like on his face prior to meeting Santa, he went with something different. Something strange. Something scary.

It truly is 'The Nightmare Before Christmas.' He was the only skeleton at that Christmas party! I give him points for originality.

Your family probably has some funny or awkward family photos in your history too! Don't be afraid...share them with us! Let the healing process begin, and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
