If you have a family member locked up in an Iowa jail cell, you won't be able to visit them anytime soon.

According to The Cedar Rapids Gazette, "The Iowa Department of Corrections has canceled visitations at all state prisons until further notice."

This is in response to the recent Coronavirus that's cancelling everything and changing the world that we live in. The story also mentioned that all volunteer activities in the state prisons are also canceled.

At this point there is no date set on when this could change. The department will explore the possibility of reduced cost or free phone calls for all inmates. They are also looking into video visitations.

So again, if you know somebody that's locked up, you won't be able to visit them anytime soon.

But this would be a good time to write a nice letter and let them know how we're dealing with this mess here on the outside.
