Here's hoping your Memorial Day weekend was fun and successful. As we took time to celebrate and enjoy some downtime, we also thanked the brave men and women who've sacrificed it all for us to have a weekend like this.

I know the highlight of my weekend came on Sunday, when we set up for Kids Eat Free and Run The Bases Sunday with the Cedar Rapids Kernels. Mike Ferris and I hung out on the concourse as our prize wheel was spinning feverishly, giving away an assortment of KDAT t-shirts, Collins Road Theatre movie passes, Iowa-made Verena Street coffee samples, Wisconsin Dells discount cards, Kernels tickets, candy and meeting our wonderful listeners.

The Kernels won 14-1 on Sunday. I had the privilege of throwing one of the ceremonial first pitches, and it's a good thing that's where my onfield participation ended. As you'll see in the video below, I threw it "juuuust a bit outside". Several guest pitchers before and after me did a much better job. I'll stick to my day gig.

I had fun and would like to thank Jessie Fergesen and the Kernels organization for that opportunity!

Thanks as well to the Kernels, their fans, our Sunday sponsors Western Fraternal Life and Prairie Farms, and those who came to see us for a great Sunday at the ballpark.

The team now heads out on the road for a long stretch but join us again Sunday, June 16 at the Veterans' Memorial Stadium, and get the full Kernels schedule here.
