Another day and another event that will have a different look in 2020.

According to CBS2, "The Johnson County Fair Association has decided to cancel the grounds and grandstand entertainment for the 2020 Johnson County Fair. This is due to a precaution to help slow and reduce the spread of COVID-19."

This is not surprising news. It seems like everyday there is a new cancellation that we're reading about. This is the latest, and I'm sure it won't be the last. It just sucks to think that we may not have much of a summer this year.

But it's all about safety, I totally get that. And it sounds like organizers of the Johnson County Fair are ready to come back next year bigger and better. The date for the 2021 fair will be July 25 - July 28.

I feel bad for the kids, the 4-H and FFA members. The fair is when they get to show off their animals and other projects they've been working on all year. Let's hope organizers can find a way for them to still be recognized.

I just checked the Facebook page for the Johnson County Fair, and all of the comments were positive. Nobody wants to miss out on all of these fun events, but we all want to stay safe.

Again, let's hope we can get back to normal sooner than later!
