If you're looking for a cute movie date to curl up with for all those Halloween shows, protection from those monsters among us, and a new friend and companion by your side for life, now's the time to contact Cedar Rapids Animal Care & Control.

During the month of October, they are offering a deal that's not so frightening to those who are looking to bring a new furbaby into the family. Through October 31, you can visit them and adopt a dog or cat. It's just $50, which is such a great deal compared to their normal fees of $150-$200 (according to KCRG), it's almost scary. But don't bring your fear of the long-term commitment it takes to care for their friendly animals who have all of the following completed with the $50:

  • Spay or neuter
  • Initial vaccinations
  • Dewormer
  • Flea/tick treatment
  • Microchip

To save even more time, Iowa's News Now provides a link to a pre-application before you stop in to Animal Care & Control at 7241 Washington View Parkway SW on the Kirkwood Community College campus. Their facility is open Monday through Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. and all visitors are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing when entering. Social distancing is not required once you get your new pet home, so to see who is looking for a new home, click here.
