There are so many animals all over the country looking for their forever homes. That's why it's so nice to hear when an adoptable animal finally gets placed into a loving family, especially when that pet has been up for adoption for a long time. That was the case with Leo, a sweet dog that's been adopted after spending more than two years waiting in shelters.

Here's a post from Dogs Forever from 2018, when Leo was still waiting to find a family.

According to KCRG, a few years ago Leo was set to be euthanized at a rescue in Sioux City, Iowa. Thankfully, Linda Reynolds with Dogs Forever in Cedar Rapids took him in and made him a part of the Dogs Forever family. According to the report, Leo's demeanor made it hard for him to find a family. That is, until one man, David Evens of Urbana, saw Leo on Dog's Forever's website and knew he was worth putting in the work for.

Evens worked with a trainer for "three months to become best friends with Leo and calm him down", he put up a fence, and put a kennel in his house." After fulfilling all of Dogs Forever's requirements, Evens was able to take Leo home.

We love seeing stories like this. There are still so many dogs out there looking for their forever homes. We work with several area shelters such as Dogs Forever, Last Hope Animal Rescue, Safe Haven of Iowa County, and S.A.I.N.T. Rescue to find animals families.
