Iowa Pup ‘Patrick Mabones’ Will Compete in the 2024 Puppy Bowl
It doesn't get more adorable than this!
Lots of people enjoy watching the Super Bowl, but others would much rather watch Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl! On Sunday, February 11th, two teams of puppies from rescues all over the U.S. will compete for the coveted Lombarky Trophy. It will be a tough game between Team Fluff and Team Ruff.
According to Discovery's website, "this PUPPY BOWL will be the biggest yet, featuring 131 puppies, 73 shelters and rescues across 36 states and territories – including the all-time smallest pup, Sweetpea, at 1.7 lbs and the biggest, Levi the Great Dane at 70 lbs." One of the many shelters with pups in the game this year is here in Iowa! Five dogs from AHeinz57 Pet Rescue and Transport in De Soto will be featured during the program, including a hound mix named Patrick Mabones.
Patrick Mabones is one of the starting players on Team Fluff. Discovery's site says that he "is as dedicated to his sport as his namesake." He was also a contestant in the Pupularity Playoffs, going up against another adorable pup named Linus. Linus ended up moving on in the competition, but Patrick is definitely the winner in our hearts!
The other Iowa pups set to compete in this year's Puppy Bowl include Angus, Jambu, June, and Vega. You can check out photos of all of them below!
The 2024 Puppy Bowl will take place on Sunday, February 11th beginning at 1 p.m. on Animal Planet. You can also watch the game at AHeinz57 Pet Rescue and Transport's Puppy Bowl XX Tailgate Party! It will be held at Paws & Pints in Des Moines and it will feature food, prizes, and meet & greets with all five of the Iowa competitors. You can purchase tickets to the event HERE.
