Iowa’s Win Over Ohio State Was One For The Ages [PHOTOS/VIDEOS]
Be honest, you still can't believe what you witnessed today. This was an Iowa Hawkeye team loaded for bear. Just as importantly, this was a team with a coaching staff ready to pull out all the stops to bring victory home. Every day is a great day to be a Hawkeye, but this was a very special day.
A day that saw Josh Jackson intercept three passes, only the third Iowa player in history to do it, including this herculian effort:
A day that saw Iowa tight ends Noah Fant and T.J. Hockenson each catch two touchdown passes. Iowa quarterback Nate Stanley threw five touchdown passes, only the third time in Iowa history that has happened (Chuck Long threw for six in two different games). Stanley now has 22 touchdown passes this year and only four interceptions.
A game that saw Iowa have more first downs, more passing yards, more rushing yards, more than 100 total yards more than Ohio State, win the time of possession battle, and of course force four glorious turnovers. 55-24. Yes, 55-24! Iowa's first victory over a top-10 ranked Buckeyes team since 1983 and the highest margin of victory over the Buckeyes E-V-E-R, in 65 meetings.
It all spelled bedlam as the final horn sounded.
What a day. What a game. I could go on and on with the superlatives from this one, but it's time to move on. It's time to start looking forward to another battle with a football goliath.
Iowa visits Madison for a 2:30 kickoff next Saturday afternoon on ABC. It's another nationally-televised game against a Top 10 opponent. The Wisconsin Badgers await in Camp Randall Stadium and you can bet they're a little concerned after what they saw Iowa do to Ohio State today. Iowa fans, don't worry about a letdown. If Iowa was playing anyone else, I'd be a little wary. No, this is Iowa-Wisconsin. Nothing else needs to be said.
