It's that time of year in college football. It's 'watch' list time! The prestigious awards handed out every year at the end of the season are putting out their respective lists of players who might once again deserve recognition. Iowa quarterback Nate Stanley is again among those players.

For the second straight year, Stanley has been named to the Maxwell Award watch list. The Maxwell Award is given annually to the best player in college football. Stanley is one of 11 Big Ten players and 4 conference quarterbacks among the 80 players named to the preseason list.

Stanley threw for nearly 3,000 yards and 26 touchdowns last year, second-most in the Big Ten. Stanley's 52 touchdown passes rank fourth in school history and the most by any Hawkeye over a two year period.

Two Hawkeye signal callers have won the Maxwell Award. Nile Kinnick in 1939 and Chuck Long in 1985. Ricki Stanzi was a semifinalist for the award in 2010.
