Iowa is One of the Better States for Working Moms

Moms are some of the hardest working people on the entire planet. If you need more convincing, just take a look at the new study that revealed that moms spend an average of 97 hours a week doing parenting duties! And, a lot of moms have a part-time or full-time job on TOP of that!

WalletHub recently conducted a survey to figure out the best and worst states for working moms. The article states:

"Women make up nearly half of the U.S. workforce, and more than 70 percent of moms with young children are working."

The study is based on 16 key metrics including child-care costs, gender pay gaps, and parental-leave policies. Iowa came in 13th overall, ranking 12th for "professional opportunities" and 17th for both "child care" and "work-life balance." The top 5 states overall are all on the east coast:

1. Massachusetts
2. Rhode Island
3. Connecticut
4. Rhode Island
5. District of Columbia

On the other hand, four out of five of the worst states for working moms are in the south:

1. Louisiana
2. Alabama
3. South Carolina
4. Idaho
5. Mississippi
