WalletHub recently ranked all 50 states on "22 key indicators of friendliness toward working fathers," and Iowa just missed the top 10!

Although Father's Day may not be as celebrated as Mother's Day (I didn't make that up, check out this new survey), there's no denying that there are a ton of hard working dads out there! According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 93% of dads with kids under the age of 18 have a job. In honor of this weekend's holiday, WalletHub ranked all 50 states and D.C. on how good they are for working dads. They used data like child-care costs, median income, average length of workday, and male life-expectancy to determine their list.

Unfortunately, Iowa didn't break the top 10. The good news is, though, we came in at number 13! Iowa received a score of 59 and came in 6th place for "social and economic well-being," and 9th place for "health." We are actually tied for the lowest unemployment rate for dads with young kids in the entire country! Woo!

Here are the top 5 states for working dads:

  1. Connecticut
  2. Minnesota
  3. Vermont
  4. Massachusetts
  5. New Jersey

On the other end of the spectrum, here are the WORST states for working dads:

  1. Mississippi
  2. Nevada
  3. West Virginia
  4. New Mexico
  5. Louisiana
