Iowa Can Only Muster 66 Total Yards Of Offense Against Badgers
Saturday's game against Wisconsin was hard to watch. After a huge victory over Ohio State just one week earlier, we all had very optimistic thoughts for our beloved football team. Even though we were 12 point under-dogs, we all knew this game was very winnable. It was simple: Just play like we did last week!
Well, that didn't happen....and it wasn't pretty. Iowa didn't complete any of its third-down opportunities for first downs. The team only gained 66 total yards of offense. That's not a typo, 66 TOTAL YARDS! That's the lowest amount in Kirk Ferentz's coaching career. Wisconsin went on to win the game 38-14.
So, what happened? Well, a couple of things. Camp Randall is no easy place for an opposing football team to have success. Let's also not forget the Badgers are pretty good. They haven't lost a game this year. Their defense looked like the best in the league yesterday. All week people were telling me this Badger team was "overrated." They didn't look overrated to me....I thought they looked just the opposite of that.
The game is over, we lick our wounds and get ready for Purdue this Saturday at Kinnick Stadium. Iowa has won the last 4 meetings between the two teams. We learned today that the game is set for a 2:30 p.m. kick-off. You can watch all of the action on the Big Ten Network.
