Five Things You’ll Want to Do This Weekend
There is never a shortage of things to do on the weekend in Eastern Iowa. But deciding which things to do can be a tricky proposition. So here are five helpful hints to steer you to some fun, free, and productive activities this weekend.
Saddle up to the McGrath Amphitheater for a rib-ticklin' good time with BBQ galore and live music on stage. It's going on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
This Sunday morning 7:30 a.m. at Lowe Park, Marion join the fun of this Freedom Festival Event with 25 mile, 50 mile and 75 mile bike trail courses. There are rest stops along the way, plus lunch and drinks at the park after the ride. For more information click Freedom Ride for route maps and registration.
With a dry sunny weather forecast, those awesome caves will be extra cool this weekend and just perfect for exploring. The state park also offers lots of trails and picnic areas for you to enjoy a little nature this weekend.
You can catch a free movie, "Star Trek: Beyond" at Macbride Hall (17 North Clinton St.) in Iowa City on Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. It's part of Iowa City's Summer of the Arts Free Movie Series going on all season.
You can always do what I do: Just score some brownie points with the spouse by knocking off a few items on that "honey-do" list. You'll feel productive, your neighbors will be envious of your lawn, and your wife might be in a better "mood" before the weekend is over ...and you might just get lucky!
