Fayette County Celebrates National 4-H Week [PHOTOS]
We kick off October with National 4-H week, and Fayette County Youth Coordinator Michele Kelly could not be more excited.
National 4-H week is a week that everyone needs to get involved in.
This year, the theme is Opportunity4All as a way to promote the idea that 4-H is for everyone.
It's not just cows, sows, and cookies. It's youth that lives in the city, on the edge of town, on an acreage, and of course farm.
During National 4-H week, youth are encouraged to participate by creating and hanging posters in schools and local businesses, wearing their 4-H shirts, and recruiting others to join the organization.
Fayette County 4-H will end the week by participating in the Upper Iowa University Homecoming parade on October 8th.
This year, Fayette County will also participate in the 4-H Giving Day for the first time. This fundraiser will be held from noon Tuesday, October 4th through noon Wednesday, October 5th.
Every dollar that is raised we'll come back to Fayette County to help our 4-H kiddos and being this is our first year, we just decided that we're going to keep our goal very simple. We're hoping to reach a $500 goal.
Donations can be made online or by contacting Michele at the County Extension Office.
For those not in Fayette County, check with your local county extension office for details on how to participate in the 4-H Giving Day.
