Today (Sunday, May 26th) is a pretty big day for Cedar Rapids radio legend, Eric Stone.

"Stoney," as the ladies call him, is making his debut on the mound. As the title of this blog already let you know, Eric is throwing out the first pitch at today's Kernels game!

I called Eric earlier today to see how he was feeling. He told me, "Jim, I'm a little nervous. I plan to have a couple of drinks at the Stadium Lounge before the game. I'm hoping that cures my nerves."

I helped Eric with a little practice this week in our break room. He doesn't have the best arm, but he should be okay. People all over town are talking about the pitch that is slated for around 1:45 p.m. this afternoon at Veteran's Memorial Stadium.

Iowa City bookie Gary Watson told me people are betting pretty heavy on the first pitch. He said, "I've had a dozen or so people bet over $100 that "Stoney" won't get the ball to the catcher without two hops. I'm looking at losing a lot of money today if Eric shits the bed."

I personally have about 12 people coming to the game to cheer for our little buddy. We will be directly behind home plate, so we can see the pitch in all its glory. This will be a day we will never forget.

I want to wish Eric the best of luck, because I know this means a lot to him. I'm not sure why he's so nervous.

I mean, what's the worst thing that could happen??
