Eastern Iowa’s Space X Satellite Sighting Tonight

Get set for a repeat of a dazzling celestial show overhead tonight starting at dusk with a conjunction of the moon and planet Venus, followed by the return of the Space X Satellite show.

It began shortly after 9:00 p.m. last night when Meteorologist Nick Stewart from Iowa's News Now reported a strange string of lights that had been spotted over Eastern Iowa skies.

Nick posted a video of the sighting on Twitter and quickly explained to us earthlings that we had nothing to fear.

It's not aliens from another world. It's not a UFO. It is the sight of 60 Space X Starlink communication satellites, recently launched and now slowly beginning to settle into their stationary orbits above our planet.

The hope is these high-flying birds will help deliver a better internet experience for its customers, as they join more than 400 other Starlink satellites already in orbit above our world.

Another dazzling sight in the western sky tonight will be the magnificently brilliant planet Venus hovering just to the right of a beautiful crescent moon. According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, the conjunction will be visible just after dusk. The super bright Venus has been the brightest object in the night sky so far this spring (excluding the moon of course)
