Drop Off Thank You Cards For Linemen at YMCA
I came across a Facebook post from the Cedar Rapids/Marion YMCA that talked about a really cool thing they're doing for the hardworking electrical linemen/women working their tails off to get the city's lights back on.
Now through the close of office business hours at 8 p.m. on Friday, August 21, you can stop by the Helen G. Nassif YMCA branch in downtown Cedar Rapids with a handwritten note of thanks.
According to their post: "one of our awesome members has organized a distribution of handwritten thank you cards for the workers that have flooded our city to help!". Some have been luckier than others that their power is all that they lost, and while even that's made for a long week-and-a-half or so, it's being taken care of as fast as possible by these hardworking crews putting in up to 18 hour days if not more. They have come in from out of the state, and even out of the country to help. If you don't want to let them leave our city without having shown your appreciation, this seems like a great way to do so. I'd like to use my platform here to thank them myself. I admit I've gotten impatient at times in the days we've gone through this, but I appreciate the hard work they're putting in.
207 7th Ave. SE is the Helen G. Nassif YMCA branch location. You'll have to supply the card yourself but you can simply drop it off at their front desk.
