Cedar Rapids Announces A Change in Weekend Pool Opening Schedule
After announcing that Noelridge Aquatic Center in Northeast Cedar Rapids would be the first pool opening this season, Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation has announced a change.
Via a press release, they cite a "mechanical issue" at Noelridge, therefore they will shift their plans and open Cherry Hill Aquatic Center this weekend instead. Lap swims at Cherry Hill will be held from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. each day and open swims from 1-6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and from 1 to 5 p.m.. on Monday.
Another note from the release is that they may close earlier than the hours listed if there are 50 people or less in the facility for a period of one hour, lightning/severe storm in the area when the bather limit is reached, or if the air temperature is below 70 degrees.
Cherry Hill Aquatic Center is located at 341 Stoney Point Rd NW. Again, this will be the first Cedar Rapids municipal outdoor pool opening of the season, a change from the previous plan to open Noelridge first. They are still seeking lifeguard help at an increased wage of $15 an hour.
These are "pre-season" swim hours. Noelridge and Cherry Hill Aquatic Centers will fully open for daily swimming on Saturday, June 4.
We also now know that Bever, Ellis, and Jones Pools in Cedar Rapids are scheduled to open on Saturday, June 11.
Each of the city's public splash pads is still set to open this weekend, as well as several of those in Marion and Iowa City. You can learn more here.
