Catch Your Snack From a Hot Dog Gun at Kinnick This Season
Everybody loves the chance to catch a shirt from a t-shirt cannon, but what about a hot dog from a hot dog cannon?!
According to a new article from Hawk Central, Kinnick Stadium will have a brand new way to serve hot dogs this football season. It's called "Der Viener Schlinger," and it's an air-powered cannon that will shoot fresh hot dogs into the crowd courtesy of Wimmer's Meats. The article reads:
"The hot dog-shaped gun features grill marks and is topped with fake ketchup and mustard. One side of the bun has the Wimmer’s logo, along with the phrase “Der Viener Schlinger.” There are also multiple Hawkeye logos on the bun."
If you're interested in catching yourself a hot dog, Hawk Central reports that Der Viener Schlinger will be used by the spirit squad and will start being utilized this weekend. The first game of the season isn't until Saturday, September 2nd, but this Saturday, August 12th is Kid's Day, so it's the perfect time to give it a test run!
Kids’ Day at Kinnick will open to the public at 11 a.m. on Saturday, with activities beginning outside the stadium at the Krause Family Plaza starting at 10 a.m. Admission to the game is free, but the clear bag policy will still be in effect. It's also important to note that all the concession stands that will be open will only accept credit or debit cards, no cash. You can read more about the 2023 Kinnick Kid's Day HERE.
