Booze Sales up During the Pandemic
It appears people have been hitting the bottle to cope with the pandemic.
According to KCRG, "Nielson research reported a 27% spike in alcohol sales since March. Iowa has reported similar spikes.
Experts say this is the reason people are hitting the bottle is to deal with the stress of Coronavirus. Some folks are worried about catching it, others are worried about the economy and what's happening to our world.
I call B.S. I don't buy into that theory.
I think the reason alcohol sales are up is because a majority of the workforce has been sent home. Nobody has to be to work on time and you can set your own schedule. If you're hungover, nobody will ever know!
I also think people working from home start drinking a littler earlier in the day. There's no more waiting until 5 p.m. If you you're ready for a cocktail at 3, there's nobody to tell you no.
But now that offices are slowly opening up, I think you'll see the alcohol numbers drop. It's time for people to put on some pants, take a shower and sober up. It was a nice vacation, but it's time to go back to work!
