According to CBS2, "A correctional officer at the Anamosa State Penitentiary was assaulted by an inmate on Friday morning."

The incident happened around 7:25 a.m. on Friday, November 29th. An argument broke out between an inmate and an officer. The officer was trying to tell the inmate he was in an area he wasn't supposed to be in.

The inmate got very angry and struck the officer in the face. That's when the other officers stepped in and restrained the inmate. The officers and were able to break it up and take the inmate away.

The officer had to be rushed to the Jones County Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He has since returned to work at the prison and is doing just fine.
