Absentee Ballot Forms for Linn County Voters Available Today

Today July 6, 2020, is the first day the Linn County Auditor office can accept an Absentee ballot request form for the November 3, 2020, Presidential Election.

As the number of coronavirus infections continues to rise in Iowa (and across the nation) the Linn County Auditor office is encouraging citizens to vote by mail to limit the amount of in-person contact this November.

To assist residents, KCRG reports the Auditor's office is mailing absentee request forms to 145,000 active, registered Linn County voters.

The forms will hit the mailboxes of residents in late July or early August and will include a postage-paid return envelope.

This mailing is only a request form that will allow officials to reply to you by mail and send you an actual official ballot for the November Election. This request form can also be deposited into special drop boxes being set up in mid-July at the following locations:

• Linn County Public Service Center, 935 2nd St. SW, Cedar Rapids
• Marion Hy-Vee, 3600 Business Highway 151, Marion
• Edgewood Hy-Vee, 5050 Edgewood Rd NE, Cedar Rapids
• Johnson Avenue Hy-Vee, 1843 Johnson Ave NW, Cedar Rapids

For those who wish to request a ballot to vote by mail, you can also follow the instructions from the Linn County Auditor's website.

While some feel voting by mail may encourage voter fraud, others say there is little to no evidence to support that assumption.
