Do you think THIS heatwave is bad?

Well, it's pretty hot, but according to KCRG, our recent heat index numbers of 100-110 degrees do not compare to a stretch way back in the summer of 1995.

"Friends" and "Seinfeld" were a couple of the hot shows, and I was heading into my senior year in high school when, in the summer of 1995, our heat index topped out at 131.

That was, to date, the highest heat index on record for CR, and the National Weather Service says that between July 12-15, 1995, over a thousand people suffered heat-related deaths.

I love summer, but I can also avoid being outside when it's this hot, which might skew my perspective. There's nothing skewed about the fact that it's been a warm week, but it's all downhill from here. The heat breaks with temperatures in the 80s next week, according to CBS2 Weather First.

Until then, take care of yourselves, stay hydrated, wear sunscreen and lots of it outdoors or just stay inside if you can.
