Many of the big summer fairs and festivals have been canceled for 2020, which means that a lot of us won't get to enjoy any delicious fair food this year... or so we thought!

Thanks to Facebook, I was made aware of a concession stand that has set up shop in Hiawatha for the weekend. Next Generation Concessions is camped out in the parking lot of Linn County Farm Bureau, located at 1323 Boyson Road, as part of the Linn County Virtual Fair 'Fair Food Frenzy.' They arrived on Wednesday and will remain there until Sunday. The concession stand is open each day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. A new post in the Cedar Rapids, IA Small Business - Delivery/Takeout/Curbside & Other shows a photo of the menu items available. Here are some of the options:

  • Funnel Cake
  • Corndogs
  • Fried Oreos
  • Fried Snickers
  • Nachos
  • Beignets
  • Lemonade

The stand is cash only, so make sure you have some on you when you arrive.

The Linn County Fair 'Fair Food Frenzy' outlines some other places you can order delicious fair food in the area. Fruitzen is serving shaved ice in the Hy-vee parking lot by Lindale Mall, Runt's Munchies in Downtown Cedar Rapids has funnel cake fries and deep-fried Oreos on their menu, Sweetopia inside the Lindale Mall food court offers treats like caramel apples, cotton candy, and frozen chocolate-covered bananas, and Goldfinch Tap + Eatery in Marion has menu items including funnel cakes, cotton candy ice cream, corn dogs, cheese curds, and tenderloins. You can check out a full list of participating shops and restaurants HERE.
