Every time I get a creepy Facebook message from some total stranger, I think to myself, "Facebook is NOT a dating service!" Well, that's about to change. Facebook announced some new features this week and some of them DO involve dating!

Facebook Dating is already available in several countries, but it will expand to the U.S. later this year. The good news is, you have to opt in if you want to participate, so you won't be bombarded with a bunch of random dating requests if you don't want them. According to TechCrunch:

"Users opt-in, and then browse Events and Groups they’re part of for potential matches. They send them a text-only message based on something in their profile, which goes to a special Dating inbox. And if that person reciprocates, they can chat and maybe meet up."

There is also another feature being added called "Secret Crush." You can choose up to nine Facebook friends that you have a crush on, and if one of them has named you as one of their secret crushes, you will both be notified. But once again, you won't know about any secret crushes unless you choose to be a part of Facebook Dating.

I guess it makes total sense for Facebook to do this, but I don't see myself ever using it. What do you think? Would you use Facebook for dating? Share your thoughts in the comments!
