I'd driven by the area along 6th Avenue in Marion countless times. On my way to pick up kids, to drop off kids. The historic brick building with seating outside caught my eye, but I couldn't quite tell what it was. So yesterday, on my way home from, you guessed it, a school event, I decided to stop. What I found was a new restaurant open for business that much of Marion might not even know about!

Jack and Annette Perry are the owners of the property now known as West End Marion. The historic brick building I mentioned sits at 809 6th Ave. But the property is so much more. It also includes outdoor space that the owners foresee using for local artisans and other pop up stores. A large grassy area will be used for things like farmer's markets and other outdoor events.

But right now, the West End Diner is open for business! Owner Annette Perry gave me a tour and the place is amazing. Decorated with old barn wood and hardwood floors, the diner is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. They are closed on Saturdays. Everything and I mean everything is made from scratch. They offer a unique menu with items that you can't get at other restaurants, including in Marion. Annette said that she didn't want to open up another burger or pizza spot in Marion. They wanted something unique.

The diner also offers a complete coffee shop as well. It's clear that the Perry's have big plans for Marion's West End and their diner is just the first step! I can't wait to see what they have in store next!
