Tyson Might Be Buying A Waterloo School
A Waterloo area school is closing down, but it could be getting a second life thanks to a few key players.
News came out earlier this year that Elk Run Preschool would be closing its doors at the end of the school year.
On June 6th, school staff shared a post saying goodbye to Elk Run Preschool officially.
"It has been home to many of us for years and though it's hard to say goodbye to our Elk Run family- it is time to move on. This is goodbye from Elk Run Preschool! Thank you for letting us serve you!"
While Elk Run Preschool may be closing, another entity may soon be taking up shop in the building.
The property located at 316 McCoy Road, has two different parties vying for it: the city of Elk Run Heights and Tyson Foods, according to a report from the Waterloo/Cedar Falls Courier.
Tyson Foods officials say that they want to repurpose the building as a preschool specifically for company employee's children.
The buidling is currently being used as a Boys & Girls club until the end of the summer. No decision has been made yet as to what will happen to this property once school starts up again.
