The Buchanan County Fair welcomed a country legend to their fairgrounds. This annual summer event held in Independence brought in some stellar country acts this time around.

Roots & Boots Tour featuring '90s country legends Sammy Kershaw, Aaron Tippin and Collin Raye performed at the fair on Thursday, July 6th.

On Friday, July 7th Independence welcomed country superstar Trace Adkins. The 'Honky Tonk Badonkadonk' singer performed to an eager crowd full of fans willing to put up with a bit of rain to see him.

Adkins confessed that he'd been traveling all across Iowa this summer performing at various shows. He claimed it was his third show in the Hawkeye State recently and even compared his concert schedule to a political campaign.

"I feel like I'm running for president," the Louisiana native joked to the crowd.

At this point, the rain had started to come down a bit harder. While it wasn't a torrential downpour, the weather could have been a deterrent for some fans. The three-time ACM Awards winner recognized that and thanked concertgoers for sticking through the rain.

"If you stick around, I'll stick around," Adkins said as he prepared for his next song.

But fans didn't move a muscle from their spots on the fairgrounds. They were all excited to see this country legend and have a great time!
