The best public schools in the state of Iowa have been named as we creep ever closer to the end of 2017. The good news is there are several that score A+ from Niche, the website that published the results of the rankings. The ratings are based on academics (60% of the total score), culture and diversity (10 percent), surveys on the overall experience of the school from both parents and students (10 percent), and a grade of the school's teachers (10 percent). There are other factors, but they are scored at a much smaller percentage.

Three eastern Iowa schools received A+ rankings. The top high school on this side of Iowa and second overall in the state is Iowa City West! It's A+.
