Three Cedar Rapids men, one of them a minor, are in hot water following an armed robbery in Iowa City early this morning.

According to the Iowa City Police Department, they received a call of an armed robbery in the 400 block of North Gilbert Street in Iowa City at 1:20 a.m. The victim told police he'd been approached by two men who showed a handgun and also demanded money. He provided a description to authorities and an Iowa City police officer saw a vehicle with people who matched the descriptions the victim had given. The vehicle was stopped and three people inside were taken into custody. During an investigation, Iowa City Police found a unique handgun that the victim said had been used during the robbery.  He also confirmed the people in the vehicle were the ones that robbed him.

The men arrested were:

20-year-old Keith D. Whittmon-Anderson of Cedar Rapids

and 17-year-old Patrick Lavaughn Lucas of Cedar Rapids. (not pictured)

All three of the men were charged with 1st Degree Robbery, a Class B felony.

Whittmon-Anderson and Lucas were also charged with an aggravated misdemeanor: Carrying Weapons. Both Troche Vargas and Whittmon-Anderson were also charged for possession of a controlled substance.

Whittmon-Anderson and Vargas are being held in the Johnson County Jail.
