The Story of Animal Welfare Friends in Monticello
Animal Welfare Friends in Monticello is a non profit organization that helps find "forever homes" for local animals and for animals who come from nationwide "kill" shelters. AWF is a true "no-kill" shelter, with an intriguing history that dates back to 2003.
From humble beginnings, the shelter has help find homes for hundreds of animals and has grown to it's current size. They moved into a brand new Monticello location in 2016.
Funding is always needed as AWF is supported through adoption fees, donations, and various fundraising events.
AWF has a raffle happening this summer, to award a 2003 Red Ford Mustang to one lucky winner. Raffle tickets are being sold for $50.00 each, and only 600 tickets will be sold.
The grand prize drawing will be held at the 4th of July Monticello fireworks, but the winner need not be present to win.
Folks interested in helping this non profit organization can buy tickets at the Monticello shelter, Monticello Sports, REM Electric and Superior Appliance, both in Monticello.
Raffle tickets can also be purchased by calling the AWF shelter 319-975-8283.
