We have some breaking news:

The Jackson County Fair has decided to cancel the fair for 2020. From what I was told, the board met last night and voted to cancel all events for this year. The plan is to come back in 2021 with a full schedule.

The following was posted by the Jackson County Fair:

"The Jackson County Fairboard has decided to follow the position statement as presented by the Jackson County Board of Health which limits large crowd gatherings to 2,500 people or less. With the guidance we feel that we are unable to maintain the crowd and follow CDC guidelines at our music events."

I'm super bummed, this was one of my favorite events of the year and I've met a lot of friends over in Maquoketa. I was looking forward to the short trip to Jackson County for a night of fun and great entertainment.

Speaking of entertainment, the main stage this year had Snake Oil on Friday and Trace Adkins on Saturday. We've reached out to the organizers to see if these acts will get rolled into the 2021 fair. We will give you update as soon as more info is released.

Again, not the news we wanted to hear, but safety is always first and I applaud the decision by the board members. Let's hope next year we can put this all behind us and have an awesome time at the fair in 2021!

The Jackson County Fairgrounds are located at 1212 East Quarry Street in Maquoketa, Iowa.
