The Item In Brain’s Office That Creeps Out His Co-Workers
Earlier this spring, I moved offices. I actually have windows and a nice view of downtown Cedar Rapids. Many items from my 'old' office made the trip to the new one. My record player and stereo, pictures, awards, and other miscellaneous collectibles I've obtained through the years. But I wanted something new, something different to add to the new digs.
I mentioned to Holly that I was looking for some new decorations for the office, and she said that she'd keep an eye for something cool and unique. She went to a large garage sale last weekend and called me excitedly. She'd found something and she was bringing it home! I was intrigued. A picture? Some artwork? A new desk lamp? Um, no. It turned out she got me a stuffed cat.
I have to admit to you that I thought it was funny as heck! The kids loved it too. In fact, Cayleigh even named her Cat Nip. She was proudly added to my office late last week. She is perched on a shelf watching whoever decides to visit my office. While my wife and kids thought Cat Nip was hilarious, my co-workers have been less thrilled.
Some questions they've asked include "is the cat real?" No, it is not. I get the question "why" asked a lot too. First of all, I love cats. Second of all, it's a natural conversation starter! And finally, what fun is having your own office if you can't have a few items that make people question your sanity! Cat Nip makes me laugh every time I see her staring at the door, and as long as I'm amused, who cares!
