Styx played the Cell Center in Cedar Rapids over the weekend. The band sounded great, but the show as a bit of a dud.

First off, there was no opener. Larry the Cable Guy was scheduled to be co-headlining, but was scratched at the last minute. The concert had no opener, just Styx.

Like any Styx show, it was all about the music. There were no pyrotechnics or fancy lights. The band sounded great, but it's 2019 and we all expect more. There were no big screens and no frills.

If I had to guess, there were about 3,500 in attendance. What made the concert even weirder was the intermission halfway through. This was the first time I've seen that happen at a rock show. That was my cue to leave.

I ordered one Coors Light 24 ounce can. It only set me back $11. But I can blame the band or the venue for that...beer prices at concerts suck across the board. But I drank it as slow as I could to get the most out of money.

Were you at the show? Let me know what you thought.
